The annular solar eclipse on September 1st, 2016, was a remarkable celestial phenomenon that graced Reunion Island with its awe-inspiring presence. During this event, the Moon passed between the Earth and the Sun, creating a stunning display as the Moon's apparent size appeared slightly smaller than the Sun, leaving a bright ring of sunlight visible around the Moon's silhouette.
This eclipse holds a special meaning for the Cosmic Water Foundation, since it represents the discovery and therefore first observation of the changes of water properties related to a solar eclipse.

On this special day, Reunion Island became a focal point for observers eager to witness the beauty of the annular eclipse. The island's picturesque landscapes provided a perfect backdrop for this cosmic spectacle, attracting both locals and visitors from far and wide. Excitement filled the air as people gathered in various locations, eagerly awaiting the rare celestial event.

The successful measurement and documentation of the eclipse would not have been possible without the generous support of the crew at Observatoire Les Makes, located at 18, rue G. Bizet, Les Makes, La Rivière, on Ile de La Réunion. Their kind provision of facilities to the Cosmic Watch Foundation allowed for accurate measurements and enhanced the scientific understanding.

We express our sincerest gratitude to the crew at Observatoire Les Makes for their invaluable support and collaboration. Their dedication to advancing scientific knowledge and their willingness to share their resources made this experience even more memorable. The data collected during the eclipse will contribute to further research, enabling a deeper understanding of our universe and its celestial phenomena.

The annular solar eclipse on September 1st was not only a visual spectacle but also a reminder of the grandeur and wonder of the cosmos. It served as a humbling reminder of our place in the universe and the continuous exploration and discovery that awaits us. Once again, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the crew at Observatoire Les Makes for their pivotal role in making this remarkable experience a reality.
Last but not least we would like to thank the sponsors for this expedition: Wetsus, Europan Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Water Technology
